The Perma-Lights Lifetime Warranty
Our Long Term Commitment
A Perma-Lights system is designed to be a permanent feature of your home. Our Lifetime Warranty reflects our commitment to supporting your system long after installation while ensuring it is serviced safely, correctly, and responsibly.
If something doesn’t seem right, we recommend reaching out before attempting any repairs. We are always happy to help and guide you through the next steps.
Warranty Summary
The Perma-Lights Lifetime Warranty applies to the installed lifespan of the system at the original residential property and transfers with the home. Coverage includes manufacturer-defective components and limited workmanship coverage. Normal wear, end-of-life component replacement, external damage, and unauthorized modifications are not covered. Service visit fees may apply outside the initial workmanship coverage period.
Overview
At Perma-Lights, we design and install lighting systems intended to be a permanent feature of your home. Every Perma-Lights system is backed by our Lifetime Warranty, with clear and transparent coverage for workmanship and system components.
Our goal is simple: long-term support that is fair, sustainable, and easy to understand.
The Lifetime Warranty applies to the installed lifespan of the system at the original residential property and is fully transferable with the home if ownership changes.
Workmanship Coverage
Every Perma-Lights installation includes 1 year of workmanship coverage from the date of installation.
This covers issues directly related to how the system was installed, including:
- Mounting or alignment issues
- Wiring or connection problems
- Lights not seated correctly
- Installation-related performance issues
If a workmanship issue is identified within the first year, Perma-Lights will correct it at no cost to the customer.
Lifetime Manufacturer Coverage (Components)
Perma-Lights systems are built using high-quality components designed for long-term use. For the lifetime of the installed system, we continue to support components that fail due to a confirmed manufacturer defect.
Covered components include:
- LED lights that fail due to internal malfunction
- Controllers or power supplies with factory defects
If a component failure is confirmed to be the result of a manufacturer defect:
- Perma-Lights will supply the replacement component
- Perma-Lights will cover the standard labour required to complete the repair
Labour coverage applies under normal service conditions and reasonable access. Any extraordinary access requirements (including lifts, scaffolding, or third-party equipment) or additional costs, if applicable, will be discussed and approved in advance.
Component Lifespan & Normal Wear
Perma-Lights LED components are engineered for long-term performance and are rated for an expected lifespan of approximately 50,000 hours under normal operating conditions.
Normal wear, gradual light output reduction, or end-of-life component failure due to age or usage is not considered a manufacturer defect. Replacement of components due to normal wear or end-of-life is considered a system renewal or upgrade and may involve parts and labour costs.
This distinction allows us to provide strong lifetime support for true defects while maintaining fair and sustainable service over the life of the system.
Service Visits
After the initial 1-year workmanship period, most service needs fall under routine maintenance, system servicing, or non-installation-related adjustments.
In these cases:
- A service visit fee may apply
- Any required repairs or adjustments will be explained and approved in advance
- Factory-defective components remain covered under the Lifetime Warranty
This approach allows us to provide reliable long-term support while keeping service fair and sustainable for all customers.
Warranty Transferability
The Perma-Lights Lifetime Warranty transfers with the home if the property is sold, provided:
- The system remains installed at the original residential property
- The system has not been modified, damaged, or altered
- The system remains in its original configuration
Transferability does not reset workmanship coverage or eliminate applicable service visit fees outside the initial workmanship period.
What Is Not Covered Under Warranty
Warranty coverage does not apply to issues or damage caused by:
- Physical impact (ladders, tools, sports equipment, etc.)
- Accidental damage by occupants, children, or pets
- Storm damage, acts of nature, or external forces
- Customer tampering, modification, or attempted repair, including:
- Opening or altering a control box(s)
- Modifying wiring or electrical connections
- Adding third party components or accessories
- Adjusting system components outside of the official Perma-Lights approved app(s)
Storm or weather-related damage is not considered a manufacturer defect and is typically covered under homeowner insurance.
If an issue is determined to be caused by tampering or unauthorized alterations, the repair will be handled as a billable service.
How Warranty Determinations Are Made
If a service visit is required, Perma-Lights will assess whether the issue is related to:
- Installation workmanship
- A confirmed manufacturer defect
- Customer interaction, modification, environmental exposure, or external damage
Warranty determinations are made in good faith based on physical inspection, system diagnostics, documentation, and service history.
